The term recreation place as herein used shall be construed to mean, any establishment which shall be conducted purely for pleasure of the patrons, and for profit for the proprietor, such as dance halls, pool halls, card and domino games, picture shows and skating rinks, and things of a like nature.

It shall be unlawful for any person to set up run, operate or maintain any recreation place, for gain or hire in the city, without first making application for a license and paying the required fee.

The dance hall shall operate on only six days a week, and not on Sunday. Those operating domino and card tables, shall not open before 6:00 a.m. and shall close not later than 11:00 p.m., tables to be closed on Sunday. Skating rinks to operate from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 pm. closed on Sundays.

It shall be unlawful for any owner of a pool, billiard, card or domino table, to permit any minor person under the age of 16 years, or any person intoxicated or using loud boisterous, profane or indecent language to come into or remain in his or her place of business, unless the minor is accompanied by a parent or guardian or has written consent from the parent or guardian.

The license fee shall be $25 per year, for a recreation place, and such shall be payable on the first day of January and the first day of July of each year.

Any person conducting the above type of businesses, who shall not comply with the above provisions, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $10 nor more than $100 and each and every day of violation will constitute a separate charge, and defendant shall be fined accordingly.
